The documents behind the claims on this site

Fitness marketing runs on unverifiable numbers, so this page exists to show the paper. Where a claim on this site rests on a document, the document is here, and the caption says what it shows rather than what we would like it to prove.

Some of these are photographs of physical artefacts kept at the gym. They are not online anywhere else, and for the older ones they never will be, a regional Gujarati sports brief from 1997 predates the Gujarati web. Surat's own daily has published since 1863, but its 1990s archive is not digitised. In that situation the scan is the citation, and the honest thing is to show it and describe it precisely.

1997: the inter-college result, as printed

Headline: “આંતર કોલેજ પાવર લીફ્ટીંગમાં અખંડ આનંદ કોલેજનાં ત્રણ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ મોખરે”, Three students of Akhand Anand College lead in inter-college power lifting.

The body text names બ્રિજેશ એસ. જોષી, Brijesh S. Joshi, a student of Akhand Anand Arts & Commerce College, as placing second in the South Gujarat University inter-college weight lifting competition, and third in the 75 kg group in power lifting. Two other students are named in the same report.

1999: the original reception

The photograph shows the front desk of S.R. Gym in its first year, with the painted sign on the counter. The gym opened on Ved Road in Katargam, where the branch still operates today.

It is the earliest photograph the gym holds of itself, and the reason “since 1999” appears on the logo.

Members in the local press

After the gym opened, members began entering regional bodybuilding competitions, and the local Gujarati papers reported the results. The gym kept the cuttings.

We have deliberately not transcribed individual names and placings from these into site copy. The photographs are legible in parts and not in others, and naming a competitor and a placing we cannot read cleanly would be exactly the kind of claim this page exists to avoid. Strength Bodybuilding Association South Gujarat

This is the one part of the record that is verifiable online, by anyone, right now. SBBASG publishes its championship circulars, and those circulars list its office bearers.

Reading the accreditation badge

That is all it shows, and that is all this site says about it. An accreditation badge records that someone was accredited to be there. An accreditation badge records that someone was accredited to be there. His judging registration is a separate document, and both the Indian Body Building & Fitness Federation judge card and the earlier Gujarat State Bodybuilders Association card are reproduced onthe credentials page.

What still needs a document

Several things people expect to see on a page like this are absent, deliberately:

Certificates are now published. Four training qualifications, two judging registrations and a state award are reproduced on the credentials page. This section previously said none had been produced, which was true when written and is no longer.
No profile piece. One Gujarati daily, Divya Bhaskar, has quoted him by name as General Secretary of the Gym Owners Association of Gujarat, which iscovered on his page and listed on the sources page. Beyond that quote, no publication has written a profile of him or of the gym.
No count of trainers produced. The gym has said “100+” in the past. That number cannot be checked, so this site does not print it, see the trainers page for what can be said instead.

Each of those becomes publishable the day a document exists for it.
