What members say, 4.6 at Adajan, 4.5 at Katargam

119 Google reviews across the two branches. The figures below are read from the live Google listings, and each one links straight to the source so you can check it rather than take our word.

Why the review counts are so different

Katargam has 91 reviews and Adajan has 28, and the reason is not that one branch is three times better. Katargam is the original floor, open since 1999, so it has had far longer to accumulate them. Adajan is the newer branch.

There is also a more mundane reason, which we may as well admit: the Katargam Google listing has not, until now, even had this website attached to it. Nobody was being pointed anywhere.

Why the reviews stay on Google

Two reasons, one principled and one practical.

The principled one: a review quoted on the business's own website has been selected by the business. You have no way of knowing what was left out, which makes the exercise close to worthless as evidence. The reviews are more useful to you on Google, unfiltered, including the ones that are not flattering.

The practical one: Google's structured data policy is explicit that review markup is intended for sites collecting reviews aboutother businesses. Marking up your own star rating is self-serving, and it is the sort of thing that gets a site a manual action rather than a rich result. The previous version of this website did exactly that. This one does not.

What reviewers keep saying

The recurring theme, in both listings, is age and continuity, that this is one of the older gyms in the city and that the owner is actually present. That is consistent with what the gym is, and it is a fair thing to weigh against the newer, larger, better-equipped places nearby.

If you want machines, air conditioning and an app, there are gyms in Surat that will serve you better and we will happily say so on the phone.

What we do with criticism

If something in the gym is wrong, equipment out of service, the place not clean, a member behaving badly, tell +91 98790 69960 directly and it gets dealt with faster than a review will achieve. Then leave the review anyway, honestly. A rating that is 4.6 because it includes the disappointments is worth more than a 5.0 that has been curated.

Leaving a review

If you train here, the single most useful thing you can do for the gym is leave an honest review on the listing for Adajan or Katargam. Mention which branch you train at and what you were working on. It helps the next person more than any page we could write.
