Trainers and gym owners who trained here first
This page used to say “100+ trainers”. It does not any more, and the reason why is worth the paragraph.
Why this page carries names instead of a number
Over twenty-six years, a lot of people have trained at S R Gym and gone on to work in the industry. Brijesh has said in the past that more than a hundred of them became trainers or opened gyms, and he may well be right, since he is the only person who has watched the whole period.
But it is not a number anyone can check, including us. There is no register. So it comes off the site, and what remains is what can be pointed at.
A certification institute ran out of this gym
The clearest evidence that S R Gym has been a base for trainers rather than only for members: GKFTI, a fitness training institute, lists its head office as “S.R.Gym, 2nd Floor, Vadinath Chowk, Nr. Akhand Anand College, Ved Road”, the Katargam branch address.
A gym does not become the address of a certification body by accident. Courses ran from the floor, which is the ordinary way people in Surat moved from training themselves to training others.
Members who now coach
We would like this section to be a list of names, gyms and links. It is not one yet, because publishing someone's name and career on a public page requires asking them first, and that is a conversation rather than a website update.
If you trained at S R Gym and now work as a trainer or run your own gym, message +91 98790 69960. With your permission we will list you here with your gym and a link, which is worth more to you than it is to us, and worth more to a reader than any number we could print.
Thinking of becoming a trainer yourself?
The honest route is longer than the advertised one. Train seriously for a few years first, because you cannot coach a squat you are unable to perform. Get certified through a recognised body. Then spend time on a floor with somebody experienced, which is the part no course provides and the part that actually makes you employable.
If you are at the start of that and you train here, say so. Brijesh has been coaching in this city since 1999 and knows what the path looks like in Surat specifically, including which parts of it are a waste of money.
Trained here and now coaching?
Tell us where you are now and we will add you, with a link to your gym.
